THE ROLE OF THE SOCIAL MEDIA USERAS AN INFORMATION PROCESSOR
As a SM (social media) user, your role and purpose are not analogous to that of a “consumer” even if that’s what you seem to be doing most of the time. And as a producer selling your wares on SM, you are only, indirectly, looking out for consumers; you might be looking for willing marketers.
Although I hate to use such ugly neologisms, many SM users are prosumers, that is, a combination of both consumers and producers. That is the greatest liberating force of the digital economy, as well as its main weakness and curse. A user may join a certain network to follow some influential people, but if through his own actions or some other reason he increases his reach and popularity, he is now a producer of content, too. So when people talk about SM attention economy and competition, keep in mind that it’s an economy that sometimes doesn’t have a clear distinction between consumers and producers, where most of the former want to be the latter, and when people do not compete so much for neutral consumers (like different brands compete for your attention at the supermarket) as between each other as producers/influencers, so as to get rid of the competition within a community(civil wars being the worst wars, and all that.) As it is very difficult to gauge the quality of a lot of digital “content” or “products,” it’s not uncommon that this is done not by convincing any hypothetical consumer of the superiority of your product, but by tarring the competition, by destroying them at a moral or ideological level, to make sure people don’t want to be associated with them. Hence the known nastiness of SM, which ironically is sometimes directly proportional to how low the stakes are.

Another day, another idiot on Twatter, but this time, and showing that mainstream liberal press is scraping the bottom of the barrel, this idiot is a New York Times hire.
Hoy han publicado la noticia de que el vicepresidente catalán, Oriol Junqueras, y el President Puigdemont han recibido “amenazas de muerte” por Twitter. Como indica El Periódico, ese usuario ya es conocido, pues antes ya había amenazado también al mismo Puigdemont y a la activista Carla Antonelli (no lo mencionan, pero Rahola también.) Aunque las cuentas que usa ese usuario las van eliminando, van reapareciendo, habitualmente como alguna variación de MachoTrollX, MachXTroll, _MachxTroll_, etc. Evidentemente, nombres como “Macho Troll” y “Rompe Ortos” no inspiran confianza ni seriedad, por lo que uno debería tomarse estas cosas con cierta calma pues es evidente que no hay deseo real de herir detrás de esas “amenazas.” Es más, el tipo que las hace ni tan siquiera es Español, es Mexicano.
El patrón siempre es el mismo, una cuenta de usuario con alguna variación del MachTroll y, en su nombre, algo que contenga la palabra Akisukhino (luego explico el porqué) se dedica a lanzar amenazas y comentarios ofensivos. Y a todo el mundo, sólo que algunos son a famosos y/o pican, por ejemplo, el último usuario también le dijo esto a Patxi López hace pocos días, pero nadie se fijó.
Lo que buscan son son objetivos de elevado rango o alta visibilidad social (como es un proceso independentista como el catalán) y dejar que “piquen” para que los medios intervengan. A veces pican, a veces no.
Sobre la ubicación del usuario, no es España. Es evidente leyendo el español que utiliza en su TL y buscando entre sus seguidores y lo que retwittea, pero en cualquier caso, la ubicación que dice su(s) cuenta es falsa y va cambiando según el objetivo, al igual que el nombre. Por ejemplo, cuando amenazó a la activista LGTB Carla Antonelli, su nombre era, y no estoy de broma, Akisukinho Rajoy, incluyendo estrellitas y un arcoiris, para hacer la “amenaza” al colectivo LGTB más surrealista aún.
La foto, evidentemente, ni tan siquiera es del tipo, pues va variando según la cuenta/mensaje (aunque casi siempre son gente con rasgos Mexicanos o Latinos) lo que indica que probablemente las coge de algún lugar de Internet, posiblemente un tablón de imágenes. En cualquier caso, su ubicación -la que marca Twitter- ha ido variando, desde Madrid (la última,) hasta Barcelona y pasando por Segovia.

Sobre lo de Akisukinho, es también Mexicano, y parece que hace referencia a un hashtag mexicano llamado #akisukillers que, por cierto, uno de los que ha amenazado a Puigdemont y Junqueras lo usa en su bio de Twitter. El de la foto a la derecha, lo más seguro, es que no sea él.
Sobre el origen de ese hashtag, lo desconozco, aunque sospecho que tiene que ver con una cuenta de Twitter de una usuaria Mexicana que recibió acoso on-line, quizás por parte de estas mismas personas. No tengo pruebas, no obstante, y la relación puede que sea espuria o una coincidencia. En cualquier caso, el origen del grupo probablemente esté en un tablón de imágenes/foro Hispano anónimo al estilo *chan, y seguramente varias personas hayan decidido usar esos nombres o identidad para sus troleos y “aventuras” on-line, como este usuario.
Todo esto lo digo para que no piquéis. Las amenazas no tienen fundamento, se las hacen a todo Dios, y no tiene sentido estresarse porque alguien llamado Don Vergas el Rompe Ortos (!!!) te diga cosas feas. Es tentador caer en la tentación y suponer que todo esto es una consecuencia del “ambiente político,” pero justamente por eso escogen estos objetivos, porque saben que será la primera interpretación que se hará, lo que elevará las posibilidades de que algún medio hable del tema (y eso es lo que buscan.) Es más, en sus propias cuentas hacen RT de los medios que hablan de sus hazañas, publicidad que claramente la interpretan como medallas.

This first post will be about one of the jewels of Social Justice jargon: Problematic.
Como comenté en otro post, Cataluña tiene un serio problema de autopercepción y de concienciación sobre su propio fanatismo, que esconde bajo lemas como ‘la revolución de las sonrisas.’ Básicamente, está todo el día proyectando y cree que el desprecio que siente hacia esa entidad satánica llamada “España” es proporcional o simétrico al que desde allí sienten hacia nosotros. Ni se les pasa por la cabeza que el odio es, habitualmente, unidireccional.
